About Ovenbird

We started Ovenbird in Glasgow in 2013. We weren't the first specialty roaster in Scotland and we weren't trying to be. We were trying to roast coffee we wanted to drink, in a city we wanted to live in, with people we wanted to work with. That hasn't changed.

What we do

We roast specialty coffee in small batches at our roastery in Glasgow. We buy green coffee from farms and cooperatives we know, and we keep buying from them year after year. We don't chase new-harvest hype. We develop relationships and stay with them. The result is a small range of coffees we stand behind, all year round.

Every coffee we sell is paired with a painting. Not a marketing flourish — a way of saying this drink is worth your attention. Coffee, like art, is something you sit with and notice. The painting on each bag is the visual companion to the coffee inside it.

What we don't do

We don't sell anything we wouldn't drink ourselves. We don't compete on price. We don't add to a range because a flavour is in fashion. Our smallest bag size moved from 350g to 500g in 2026 because our customers had quietly told us, by ordering more, that 350g was too small. We listened. We expect to keep listening.

Where to find us

The roastery is in Glasgow. Retail orders go out by post. Wholesale customers — cafés, restaurants, hotels, retailers across Scotland and beyond — collect from us, have us deliver, or order in trade formats. If you want to talk about working with us at that scale, the wholesale page is the place to start.

If you want to buy a bag, the whole range is on this site. If you want to know more about a specific blend or origin, the painting on the bag is one place to begin, and the journal another.

Thank you for being here.
