The Dominican Republic is a bit of an underdog in the coffee world. At Ovenbird, we love a good underdog, and we found one in the form of this mouth-watering blend. A high-grown coffee of the Dominican Republic, Barahona is widely considered to be the finest of the country’s premium gourmet coffees. The coffees are almost entirely organically grown, with the majority also being shade-grown. Barahona is a market name, and the coffee in general is notable for its rich flavour with a fine acidity.
We can testify that this coffee does indeed taste pretty premium. With a rich flavour profile, full body, and high acidity, it certainly doesn't fall flat. In the cup, mango dominates the flavour initially, followed by a smooth milk chocolate body and hints of rose flowers. A sweet and warm syrup-like sensation makes for a comforting aftertaste.
